The veteran journalist, eminent litterateur and\u00a0 Sahitya Academy Awardee Homen Borgohain passed away on 12<sup>th<\/sup> May, 2021. \u00a0Homen Borgohain was born on December 7, \u00a0in the year 1932 at a small village in Dhakuakhana in Lakhimpur district of Assam.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<em>Pita Putra, Saudar Puteke Nao Meli Jai, Atmanusandhan, Kitap Pahrar Ananda, Dhumuha aru Ramdhenu<\/em> etc &nbsp;were very popular books which created a lot of new readers. His extraordinary style of expression gave a different taste to his readers. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award&nbsp;in&nbsp;Assamese language&nbsp;for his novel&nbsp;<em>Pita Putra<\/em>. He played a significant role in popularizing the Assamese language and literature.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; At the age of 89, till the last day, he was serving as the Editor-in-Chief&nbsp;of Assamese daily&nbsp;<em>Niyomiya Barta<\/em>.&nbsp; \u201cKatha-Barta\u201d, a flagship programme of a local electronic media channel&nbsp; was one of&nbsp; the largely viewed&nbsp; and&nbsp; most popular programme in Assam since the first episode.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Homen Borgohain joined Cotton College in Guwahati for higher studies after completing matriculation from Dibrugarh Government boys\u2019 higher secondary school.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Before joining his journalism career, Homen Borgohain also worked as an Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer for a brief period.
